Pushkar Holy Land & Holy Men !

Pushkar is famous not only for its Cattle Fair but it is one of the most holy destinations for the people of Rajasthan. Within the framework of ritualistic Hindu existence your birth, death and moksha can all be be obtained and arranged / ordained on the banks of the holy Pushkar lake.

Concurrent with the Cattle Fair is the holy period of Karthik Purnima when almost the whole of rajasthan descends on this place for a holy dip to attain salvation.

Industry always follows the footsteps of the population and "sadhuism" now appears to be one successful industry.

The sadhus gather here from places far and near to seek their alms. On the first day of my stay I saw this procession of sadhus walking in to Pushkar on an evening of mellow golden sunshine.

Here is a shot of a lone sadhu walking with a twinkle in his eyes and a smile of benevolent indulgence for the unenlightened human beings who sport materialistic gadgets in their hands.
